![]() ![]() The Hush puppies, well there were a large amount of hush puppies, and my wife and I ate every single crumb! (She asked me to go back later and get some more and to include some banana pie and some corn fritters!) my wife ate all the greens and loved them! I had the cole slaw, small but tasty (would have liked a bigger portion) The biggest surprise was the huge portion of fried okra! It was tender and full of flavor, again one of the best I have ever eaten outside of North Carolina! We plan to go back and try the chicken and some of the other dishes that they have on their large menu!! I rated them as very good because of the strange way to get into their parking lot (easy to miss) and that I have not tried their chicken ( my standard is how well the flavor stands up to the chicken I buy at Royal Farms) or desserts yet! So, if every thing is just like what I received an ate today the rating will go up to "excellent" in Sept. The catfish was excellent, some of the best I ever had in my 65 years of eating fish, and my wife loved her catfish as well. I waited about 15 minutes and picked up my bags and a box of food. So service was quick, the cashier tried to make my order what I really wanted and showed me the different sizes of some of the sides and made sure that my order was right! That was a good thing, the bad thing was he looked a bit tired and was ready to go home. When I went in (around 6:25 pm) there were only three other customers in front of me. ![]() I had heard both good things and bad things about Hip Hop running from "Wow! that was some great food" to "I will never go. My wife is from the South and she is very picky about what kinds of southern food she will eat.
